Jeans For Business Casual Wear | Business Jeans
Jeans are becoming more and more acceptable in work environments. In many offices where jeans are normally forbidden, the concept of casual Fridays is catching on more and more. Whether your workplace is totally casual and allows jeans on a daily basis, or your office hosts an occasional casual day, the same general guidelines apply.
The most important thing to remember is that you are wearing jeans to work. Whatever the dress code, you want to look appropriate for the workplace. Even if everybody dresses in holey jeans on a daily basis, doesn't mean that you need to follow suit. You can be casual, yet professional looking and be stylish too.
Select dark wash jeans that aren't distressed at all. Darker washes are almost always seen as dressier and less casual. Any form of distressing or fading or ragged hems immediately makes the jeans more casual.
wide leg or trouser style jean almost always looks more professional than a skinny or boot cut jean. If you don't like wide leg or trouser style jeans, then opt for a
straight leg jean.
Flared jeans, that are pretty form fitting on the leg, down to mid-calf and then make a big flare, are the one jeans style I would absolutely avoid in the workplace.
Pair your jeans with appropriate tops and shoes and
accessories. The options are endless, so I'll just say that you want to avoid t-shirts and other casual tops in favor of blouses or sweaters that are appropriate for business casual. I absolutely love having a selection of blazers that I can throw over everything to give any look a little more polish and a professional edge.
Shoes can make or break a work casual look. Opt for a nice flat or workplace appropriate heel. In the colder months boots can be a great option. Avoid sneakers, flip flops, casual sandals and dressy heels that would be appropriate for a night out, not a day at the office.
It's tempting to want to go too casual at work, but it's more important there, than anywhere else. Maintain a style that reflects you and that says you take your work seriously and it's important to you.
