Jeans Care - Remove Oil Stains From Jeans
How To Remove Oil Based Stains From Jeans

There are so many stains that are grease or oil based. Starting with plain old olive or canola oil. Any food that's been fried is going to create an oil based stain. Motor oil and grease are some of the most obvious oil stains. Less obvious are the products that are oil based like many cosmetics, lotions, on and on.
The faster you can get to the oil stain the better. Blot it, do not rub the stain to get as much of the stain as you can. If it's a heavy oil stain you can try sprinkling a good layer of talcum powder to absorb as much of the oil as possible. Let it sit for a while and brush it off when it's absorbed as much oil as it can.
Grease and oil stains require a solvent cleaner. If you have one on hand, great, use that. If not, if you have Dawn dishwashing detergent use it. If you don't have any Dawn, run to the store and purchase some. It is by far and away the best oil lifter I know of. Pour some Dawn on the stain to completely cover it and let it soak, then you may use hot water to scrub and rinse the stain. Usually I don't recommend hot water on stains because it can cause them to set in. Oil is the exception as hot water is very affective on dissolving oil. Make sure the oil stain is completely removed before drying the jeans.
