Remove Gasoline Odor From Jeans

If you've ever spilled some gas on your jeans or even gotten your clothes near gasoline for a short amount of time, you know how hard it can be to get rid of the odor.
To Remove Gasoline or A Gasoline Odor From Jeans:
Pretreat the gasoline stain, or if the whole garment has a gasoline smell, either use the
presoak setting on your washing machine, if yours has one, or presoak the jeans in your sink or a bucket. Wash using heavy-duty detergent with hot water.
Stain-removal pretreatment products help remove oil-based stains such as gasoline. If you don't have any pretreatment products around, apply heavy-duty liquid detergent, or powdered detergent mixed with water to make a runny paste, to the stain. Work the detergent into the gasoline stain. Caution: Gasoline makes clothing more flammable then normal. Use detergent-based stain removers, not solvent-based ones. Air clothing thoroughly; do not place a garment in a dryer if you can still smell gas.
After pretreatment, wash the garment in hot water (if safe for the fabric) using the recommended amount of detergent for a regular laundry load. Rinse the jeans and inspect them before drying. Repeat this treatment if the gasoline stain or gasoline odor is still present.
